Beginning in June 2012, we will be hosting a new Sunday tradition here at Headwaters. Along with our guests, we are inviting the general public to join us for a Ranger Pancake Breakfast.  We are becoming a 1% for the Planet Business in 2012 and as part of our committment to donate 1% of our net proceeds to environmental organizations, we are donating the profits from this breakfast to The Ranger Heritage Fund, a Yellowstone Park Foundation initiative.

The sourdough pancakes will be all you can eat and served with real maple syrup, local sausage, seasonal fruit salad, orange juice, local artisan tea and locally roasted coffee.  Breakfast will be outdoors under summer skies and will be held weather permitting.

If you wish to join our guests for breakfast, you'll need to have a reservation.  We are still working out a system - stay tuned for updates!

The pancakes are a story in themselves.  The recipe came to me through the family of Bob Morey.  Bob began working in Yellowstone as a "smoke chaser" in 1943 and stayed through 1952 when he took a job in Badlands National Park.  He returned to work in Yellowstone from 1960-1967.  Today, his son works as a ranger in Yellowstone and his daughter is a lifelong friend of Charissa's who continues a career with the BLM and who is married to yet another park ranger.  Like the NPS, these pancakes are a family tradition!

Listen to Ranger Morey talk about bear management in Yellowstone in the 1950s.
Peace, Love & Pancakes T-Shirts and Coffee Mugs available for order soon.  Look for updates here!
